Dancing our way into May!

Hello Families-

We've had a wonderful week of learning here at Rick Marcotte Central School! This week, Mr. Day wrapped up his dance unit and our whole school celebrated with the Dance Assembly. Our class cheered on their peers and bogeyed all the way through the day. Our whole school also celebrated earning our Marky Marks with a Board Game Time. We have fun playing Sorry, Uno, Mancala and much more!

This week in writing, we've learned that poetry doesn't just come in the form of Haiku! We took big feelings we had and fit them into tiny moments, details or objects. Then we used our poet's eyes to see these details in fresh new ways. Our classroom was buzzing with poets sharing their love for family members, pets or even the new season in poetic language. What strong poets we have!

This week, we concluded our unit in math on place value of numbers up to 1,000. To celebrate this learning, we will be taking a field trip on Monday to Folino's Pizza to find the ways that math is in the restaurant business, and in making pizza! Students will spend some time as mathematicians and then will be treated to a pizza lunch from Folino's. Students will have the option of 2 slices of pizza (either cheese or pepperoni). If this is not something that your child would enjoy, they are welcome to bring a bagged lunch from home! We will not be eating lunch at school, so the school lunch would not be an option. We look forward to celebrating our math learning with pizza!

Other Things to Ask Your Child About:
- Using our hand to retell the main ideas of our nonfiction books
- Find the Joey
- Race to the Cookie Jar
- Mrs. Wheeler's final Peaceful School's lesson
- Saying Goodbye to Ms. Bedell
- Practicing written retells.

Have a wonderful weekend!
Kelly
